Refugee Awareness Week (RAW) 2021: Exploring Life As A Refugee

Refugee Awareness Week 2021
Listen and learn from diverse stories from the displaced community and expand their understanding of the lived experiences of a refugee or asylum seeker.
The pandemic has exacerbated xenophobic resentments impacting marginalised communities globally, even more so towards refugees and displaced communities. How can we form meaningful solidarities with displaced communities, who share our global human ecosystem? We stand for active efforts to treat all displaced persons as dignified and equal humans who should be allowed to work, live and thrive together in a post-pandemic future.

RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS

Refugee Awareness Week 2021

Refugee Awareness Week (abbreviated as RAW) is an annual awareness event held in conjunction with World Refugee Day commemorated globally every June 20. It is prominently commemorated in countries like Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. The inaugural RAW took place in 2016 as a week-long event at The Redbox, a space by Youth Corps Singapore, and has been running since.
“More Than” seeks to amplify the voices of displaced communities. We center their stories, showing that displaced persons are MORE THAN numbers and the mainstream narratives that perpetuates stigmas and stereotypes surrounding displacement.
