Is your startup involved in smart energy innovation? Applications for the TERA-Award Smart Energy Innovation Competition close on October 31.
A second edition of the TERA Award Smart Energy Innovation Competition, jointly organized by Towngas and State Power Investment Company Limited, has been officially launched. It is open for registration until 31 October 2022. It aims to identify more innovative smart energy technologies and solutions worldwide to facilitate the country’s “dual carbon” goals and sustainable development.

The competition reflects Towngas’ commitment to research and development in innovative technology to propel advanced smart energy technology development; it also supports the Chinese mainland attain the dual carbon goals of reaching peak emissions by 2030, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. With these goals in mind, the Company is set to host the next edition of the TERA-Award.
 
At Towngas’ recent 160th Anniversary Celebration, Chairman  Dr Lee Ka-kit announced the official launch of the second edition of the TERA-Award, and extended a special welcome to startup enterprises and research teams around the world with the patent to prototypes and products with potential for commercialisation.

The second TERA-Award Silver prize is $100,000, and the TERA-Award Bronze – is $50,000. In addition, the “Rising Star Award” and “Pioneer Award” will be given to the top-tier projects with the highest commercialization potential and those with the most innovative ideas.
One of the competition’s key target areas is Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction. This includes technologies devoted to energy efficiency that manage carbon, such as carbon capture, carbon utilization, and carbon storage. 
 
The initiative also aims to promote the realization of China’s “dual carbon” goals and sustainable development. The country’s so-called “dual carbon” goal is its plan to reach peak carbon use by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2060.
