Are we aware of climate change, yet feeling doubtful on how to turn this situation around ?
The good news is everyone realises the the global arming presents a series threat to our future. The bad news is that most people harbour a deep-seated doubt, or even find themselves collectively depressed concerning out capacity to turn this situation around. You are not alone. But it might not be as bleak as it seems.
What Are Hacks ?
UNLEASH Hacks are localized hackathons designed to address sustainability challenges in specific contexts around the world. Through a collaborative 2-day event organized by UNLEASH alumni and their network, passionate talents work with local stakeholders and community leaders to collectively solve problems and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Each Hack focuses on one region and one sustainability challenge. For now, all Hacks in 2021 will take place online over two Satursdays.
UNLEASH HACKS Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia (SIM)
Singapore has recently launched the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which sets out sustainability targets for major local industries. Given Singapore’s import-dependent economy and close ties with Malaysia and Indonesia, these targets must be met keeping in mind the state of regional sustainability.
The Hack aims to challenge participants to ideate innovative solutions for the following areas within Green Plan:
1). Waste & Water
– Circular economy & reducing waste sent to landfills
– Reducing water consumption
2). Energy
– Energy efficiency in buildings
– Renewable energy
3). Food Security
– Increasing local food production
– Multi-purpose infrastructure (e.g. urban / vertical farming)
The Hack takes place on Saturday 5, June & Saturday 12, June (online).
Accepted talents will be allocated to teams based on their preferences and experiences. Teams are expected to advance their ideas in between the two Hack days by reaching out to relevant community members.
At the end of the Hack, each team will deliver a 3 min pitch. The most promising solutions will receive funds, among other resources, to grow their ideas further!

How To Participate ?
You can participate in any Hack, as long as you are close to the community or the theme that it is addressing.
All you need is a demonstrated passion and commitment to solving pressing SDG challenges, and a creative an innovative mindset, willingness to engage in co-creation with peers and experts, to be between 20-35 years old.
