Over 1 billion people around the world live with disabilities. But only 1 in 10 have  access to the assistive technology they need.  Following the unprecedented success of the 2020 Microsoft APAC-AI for Accessibility Virtual Hackathon, we are delighted to offer this unique opportunity to harness the power of AI to help empower the circa 1 billion people in the world living with a disability.

AI can play an integral role in the way that people with disabilities can live, learn and work. Ever-developing technology provides us with the tools we need to empower disabled people to maximise their life opportunities. 
Microsoft APAC is  harnessing the power of AI to amplify human capability for more than one billion people around the world with disabilities through their first virtual AI for accessibility hackathon.
 
Each participating team should choose any ONE problem statement; problem statements can also be from countries other than the one you are based in. Alternatively, hack on real-life problem statements provided by your local non-profit organisation. Addressing an accessibility challenge of your own is also an option for you.

DAILY NEEDS 

Access to technology can play a crucial part in improving daily life for people with disabilities, but how can this be harnessed successfully without excessive costs?

Microsoft is calling all business partners, developers, starters, and universities, this challenge helps to highlight the unique application of AI in assisting with the independence and productivity of disabled people, utilising technology to support their lives, enrich their experiences and ultimately help them to achieve their goals.

Hackers can register, team up and submit their solutions on the platform.

Jan 12, 2022 

Submissions will end on January 12th and a shortlist of potential winners will be decided by January 21st 2022.

Jan 26, 2022

Shortlisted finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to our judging panel, who will then select 5 winners.
