Countries in Southeast Asia are committed to a net-zero future, with 8 out of 10 ASEAN member states at the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow committing to net-zero targets by 2050.
Southeast Asia is taking bold steps toward a net-zero future. At the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, 8 out of 10 ASEAN member states pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This ambitious commitment is expected to accelerate the region’s transition toward a more sustainable and resilient economy.
To further advance this agenda, the ADB Southeast Asia Development Symposium (SEADS) 2023 is set to bring together thought leaders, decision makers, and climate action advocates from various sectors. The event, themed “Imagining a Net-Zero ASEAN,” aims to explore innovative solutions that can help countries achieve their net-zero targets while recovering from the COVID-19 crisis.
RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS
TOWARDS A NET ZERO ASEAN : ADB Southeast Asia Symposium 2023
SEADS 2023 will provide a platform to examine how Southeast Asia can harness new green, innovative, and cost-effective approaches to accelerate decarbonization in a wide range of sectors. SEADS 2023 is co-hosted with the ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility (ACGF), a green finance initiative under the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund co-owned by the ASEAN member countries and ADB. The ACGF works with ASEAN governments and development partners to support infrastructure projects that promote environmental sustainability and combat climate change.
