Where to donate old shoes ? Here’s how to keep your old kicks from ending up in a landfill.
Globally, there are more than 24 billion pairs of shoes manufactured annually. Still, most of them end up in landfills or incinerators because there are too many and not enough recycling facilities. Don’t just throw away shoes that you won’t be able to donate to Goodwill or a second-hand store. Instead, you can recycle them now – there are several options available. Give your used sports shoes a second life!
RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS
Circular Economy Project
The circular economy project is a recycling shoe project with the mission towards building new sports surfaces and infrastructure instead of going to the landfill. This project is a partnership with Dow, B.T Sports, Alba-WH, Decathlon, and other sustainability champions launched 5 July 2021.
Sports shoes, school shoes, football boots without metal studs, and rubberised slippers and sandals without metal parts are all eligible for donation.
100 collection points across Singapore, including participating ActiveSG sport centres and stadiums, Decathlon stores, schools and tertiary institutions.
Cegah Jadi Sampah Project
Revolutionizing the idea of waste, Re.Pairs.id, in partnership with Parong Pong and Shoe Workshop is working to divert millions of pounds of valuable resources from landfills into upcycled materials- working for a system in which resources are able to be endlessly re-used instead of thrown out.
Re.pairs.id will use the donations we receive to:
1. Donate directly to those in need
2. processed into other materials, for example building materials
3. Redesigned for certain projects, such as PPE shoes for cleaners
Drop your shoes at the shoe workshop, Jalan Kembar I no.41 Cigereleng, Regol Kota Bandung 40253.
Re.pairs.id accepts all types and conditions of shoe damage, except wet, too dirty (covered with mud, oil spills & so on)
Re.pairs.id is also open to collaborators from various regions as collectors (to provide drop points and distributors (to share the donation proceeds). For donations, register for collaborations, and more info, visit
