Community Connections : Partnership To Accelerate Changes And Impacts

Corporate x Social impact
Foundation For Shared Impact (FSI) is on mission to connect corporates with social impact organizations to accelerate collective social impact and positive change.
The world is experiencing an unprecedented change in  our so-called “new normal” due to the COVIC-19 pandemic. Therefore, corporates are now more relevant than ever as an instrument of positive impact. In crisis situations like this, more collaboration between the private sector and social impact sectors is needed to work towards a more just and inclusive society and economy. In particular, we must work together with the most affected communities to understand their new needs, develop new programs that adapt to the new reality, and grant them opportunities to avoid falling further behind.

RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS BY FOUNDATION FOR SHARED IMPACT (FSI)

As a core program of Foundation for Shared Impact (FSI), Community Connections connects social impact organizations with corporate employees who would like to volunteer their skills and expertise to create sustained social impact.

Over the years, Community Connections has enabled many successful connections. These connections have not just helped social impact organizations build capacity, but they have also helped corporate employees fulfil their social impact journey and acquire skills and knowledge that they otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to do so.

You can find some of the successful connections in these case studies:

HOW THE PROGRAMME BENEFIT SOCIAL IMPACT ORGANISATIONS ?

There are 3 ways this programme can benefit social impact organisations in Singapore and Hong Kong :
  • Foundation For Shared Impact (FSI) works with corporate partners to promote the collaboration and broad sharing of corporate philanthropic resources, such as skills-based volunteers’ skills and expertise.
  • FSI also provides ongoing support to them according to their needs and requests. Moreover, we provide a bank of resources on capacity assessment, board governance, legal and compliance, impact measurement and assessment, fundraising, etc.
  • Last but not least, they also offer training to help them prepare for the Connection Session, with the aim of creating meaningful partnerships.

HOW DOES COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS WORKS ?

REGISTRATION

To participate in Community Connections, corporate employees will need to register for the Connection Session held throughout the year. Corporate employees are recruited by our corporate partners:

Social impact organizations in Hong Kong and Singapore can simply get in touch with FSI
TRAINING / BRIEFING

Social impact partners and corporate participants will need to attend the Training Session and Briefing Session respectively. The sessions are designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge they would need to make the best of the Connection Session. For example, how should social impact partners present their key asks? And how should corporate participants think about their desired levels of engagement ahead of time?
CONNECTION SESSION

The Connection Session starts with each social impact partner presenting their three-minute pitch on their organization’s vision and mission, their needs, and the kind of expertise required to help address the needs.

Participants will then be allocated into three rounds of breakout Connection Sessions, where corporate participants get to meet three of their chosen social impact partners, present their skill-sets and expertise and desired level of engagement, and exchange contact details.

Social impact partners and corporate participants who want to learn more about each other would normally bring the conversation beyond the Connection Session to discuss potential partnerships. This can be done via email correspondences, virtual meetings, or a coffee chat, which helped kick-start Box of Hope’s partnership with a corporate participant from Clifford Chance.
