New CDG Energy brand builds on 2,600 charging points across Singapore and Malaysia as ComfortDelGro targets fleet electrification and integrated energy services.
SINGAPORE — ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited (SGX: C52) has unveiled CDG Energy, giving a new identity to its energy management business as the transport group moves beyond electric vehicle charging into fleet electrification and smart energy management.
The launch follows ComfortDelGro’s acquisition of the remaining stake in its former joint venture, ComfortDelGro ENGIE, or CDG ENGIE.
The new brand signals the next phase of the business, expanding its focus from EV charging infrastructure to a broader range of services intended to address the increasingly close relationship between mobility and energy.
CDG Energy is developing capabilities in fleet electrification and smart energy management, with the aim of helping customers optimise energy consumption, improve operational efficiency and advance their decarbonisation goals.
RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS
From EV Charging Network to Integrated Energy Business
Before becoming CDG Energy, CDG ENGIE played a role in supporting Singapore’s adoption of electric vehicles by developing one of the country’s leading charging networks.
Its infrastructure covers residential, commercial, public and fleet environments.
Today, the network comprises 2,600 charging points at 800 locations across Singapore and Malaysia, with further expansion underway as EV adoption accelerates around the region.
That existing charging platform will provide the foundation for CDG Energy’s next stage of development.
EV charging remains a core part of the business, but the company says customers increasingly need services extending beyond individual charging points.
Fleet Electrification and Energy Optimisation Move Into Focus
As vehicles become increasingly electrified, mobility operations and energy management are becoming more closely connected.
CDG Energy is responding by broadening its focus to customers’ evolving electrification and energy requirements.
Its expanding capabilities cover fleet electrification and smart energy management, bringing energy optimisation and infrastructure planning alongside its established EV charging operations.
The objective is to provide customers with integrated solutions that can improve the way energy is used while increasing operational efficiency.
“While EV charging remains a core part of our business, our customers increasingly require integrated solutions that support fleet electrification, energy optimisation and infrastructure planning.”
Yeo Woo Yee, General Manager of CDG Energy
Yeo said the launch reflects both the evolution of the company and its future direction.
“Building on the strong foundation we have established, we are expanding our offerings to help customers navigate the energy transition more effectively in the long run,” he said.
ComfortDelGro Sees Mobility and Energy Converging
For ComfortDelGro, the move represents an extension of a much larger transportation network.
The group is a multi-modal transport operator providing public transportation through buses and rail, point-to-point services through taxis and private hire cars, and business-to-business mobility solutions.
Millions of passengers use its services each day across 13 countries: Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, China, Ireland, Sweden, France, Malaysia, Spain, Portugal, Greece and the Netherlands.
ComfortDelGro Managing Director and Group CEO Cheng Siak Kian said vehicle electrification was increasingly bringing the mobility and energy sectors together.
“As mobility and energy become increasingly interconnected through vehicle electrification, CDG Energy represents a natural extension of ComfortDelGro’s broader mobility ecosystem.”
Cheng said ComfortDelGro was well positioned to capture opportunities created by that convergence while strengthening its ability to provide integrated solutions supporting the transition toward cleaner and smarter mobility.
A New CDG Energy Identity Built Around ‘Continuous Energy’
The change is also being reflected visually through a new corporate identity designed around the concept of continuous energy.
The “C” ring in the CDG Energy logo represents the company’s heritage within ComfortDelGro. Its open form is intended to symbolise openness to new ideas, partnerships and opportunities.
An orbiting dot inspired by an electron represents energy in motion and connections among people, ideas and innovation.
Together, the ring and orbiting dot create a continuous loop intended to represent reliability, momentum and the constant flow of energy. The company will introduce the new identity progressively across its digital and physical assets in phases.
For existing customers and partners, however, the rebranding will not alter the services and support on which they currently rely.
CDG Energy’s expansion sits within ComfortDelGro’s broader role in the transition toward a low-carbon economy.
Around 66 per cent of ComfortDelGro’s owned fleet consists of cleaner energy vehicles.
Through its transportation operations, the group supports governments and cities seeking to develop inclusive and sustainable transport systems.
ComfortDelGro has also been included in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Asia Pacific Indices for seven consecutive years.
Its transport footprint and existing shift toward cleaner vehicles provide the wider mobility ecosystem within which CDG Energy will operate.
CDG Energy Builds on Operations Established in 2021
CDG Energy describes itself as an integrated energy management company focused on accelerating the transition toward a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable future.
Since its inception in 2021, the business has expanded across Singapore and Malaysia.
Its services span electric mobility, smart energy infrastructure and energy management.
The company now operates one of Singapore’s leading EV charging networks, with more than 2,600 charge points across 800 locations in the two countries.
The transition from CDG ENGIE to CDG Energy does not abandon that charging business. Instead, the new identity broadens the company’s remit around it.
With charging infrastructure as its established base, CDG Energy is positioning fleet electrification, energy optimisation and infrastructure planning as the next parts of its growth, reflecting ComfortDelGro’s view that the future of cleaner mobility will increasingly depend on how transportation and energy systems work together.
