Scheduled supply will run until Feb 28 as Johor water operator moves to stabilise treatment plant operations.
JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 7 — Residents and businesses in the districts of Kluang and Pontian will face scheduled water supply starting midnight tonight through Feb 28, as falling water levels at the Machap dam prompt precautionary measures to safeguard supply continuity.
Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd, Johor’s water operator, said the move follows a downward trend in the dam’s water level, which is currently under close monitoring.

Controlled Operations at Simpang Renggam Plant
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, Ranhill SAJ said the Simpang Renggam Water Treatment Plant will remain operational throughout the period. Treated water will continue to be supplied to consumers, though at a more controlled capacity.
The scheduled supply is intended as a temporary measure to stabilise plant operations and ensure that distribution remains fair and adequate across all affected areas.
Ranhill SAJ urged the public to use water prudently during the rationing period, avoid unnecessary wastage and store sufficient water for essential daily needs.
The company said it is implementing the measures to maintain system stability while ensuring that available water resources are shared equitably.
Alternative Supplies in Place
To support residents during the scheduled supply period, alternative water sources will be provided where necessary. Water tankers and static tanks will continue to be deployed at strategic locations, depending on local needs.
Ranhill SAJ said conditions at the Machap dam and surrounding catchment areas will be monitored continuously, with updates issued as the situation develops.
The operator added that the rationing schedule could be reviewed earlier if conditions improve, particularly if favourable weather and heavy rainfall occur in the dam’s catchment areas.
For now, the scheduled supply will remain in effect until the end of February as authorities balance water availability with demand across Kluang and Pontian.
