She Disrupts Malaysia 2023 Launches to Amplify Women’s Role in Entrepreneurship

SheDisrupts Malaysia
She Disrupts Malaysia 2023 : A fully virtual venture competition, mentorship, and pre-accelerating training program for women entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Applications are now open.
KUALA LUMPUR – Southeast Asia’s entrepreneurial future is shaping up to be digital, socially impactful, and notably, led by women. To help accelerate this vision, Creatella Impact and Global Affairs Canada introduce “SheDisrupts Malaysia 2023”, a virtual venture competition, mentorship, and pre-acceleration program dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs in Malaysia.

RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS

She Disrupts Malaysia 2023

Following successful iterations in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, this new venture, backed by FGV Holdings Berhad, Malaysia’s leading agribusiness, and in partnership with Social Value Malaysia, aims to unlock the potential of Malaysian women entrepreneurs. The program prioritizes facilitating gender lens investments into women-driven startups.

Beyond just imparting technical know-how, the SheDisrupts community fosters a supportive environment for its participants, allowing them to connect, learn, and grow.

Participants can anticipate a slew of benefits, including entry to Techstars, AWS EdStart credits, Stripe processing perks, and significant savings with partners like Hubspot and Oracle Netsuite.
Despite women comprising nearly half of Malaysia’s working-age population, their economic participation remains modest. In 2021, just over half of them were part of the labor market. By harnessing the potential of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) – where women own over 20% – Malaysia could pave the way to more inclusivity and prosperity.

The High Commissioner of Canada in Malaysia, Wayne Robson, emphasizes that supporting women in the economy isn’t just morally imperative but a smart economic strategy.
Jane Chang, co-founder of Social Value Malaysia, echoed this sentiment. “Our involvement in the SheDisrupt program symbolizes our commitment to sustainability and social impact,” she stated.

About The Programme

The program, which links participants with mentors and facilitators from across the globe, is aimed at startups with women in leadership roles or significant ownership, focusing on solutions that address the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Entrepreneurs targeting the Malaysian market are highly encouraged to apply.

The program will run online applications and competitions from August 28 to October 8, 2023. Selected teams will proceed to mentoring sessions, with the top 20 then attending an intensive 3-week pre-acceleration program. At the culmination, participants will pitch to GLI investors.
Application Deadline: October 8, 2023, 23:59 MYT.
