Solarvest, a leader in clean energy solutions, announced on Wednesday that it will equip Ara Damansara Medical Centre, Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre, ParkCity Medical Centre, and Subang Jaya Medical Centre with solar PV systems, helping these facilities reduce their reliance on conventional electricity.
In a significant step toward sustainability, Solarvest Holdings Berhad, a Malaysia-based clean energy firm, has partnered with Asia OneHealthcare Group (A1Health) to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy in Malaysia’s healthcare industry. This collaboration will see solar photovoltaic (PV) systems installed at several leading hospitals, marking a milestone in the country’s transition toward sustainable and energy-efficient healthcare infrastructure.

RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS

Solarvest, a leader in clean energy solutions, announced on Wednesday that it will equip Ara Damansara Medical Centre, Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre, ParkCity Medical Centre, and Subang Jaya Medical Centre with solar PV systems, helping these facilities reduce their reliance on conventional electricity. This initiative builds upon Solarvest’s previous successful solar infrastructure projects across 14 hospitals under A1Health, including ten Columbia Asia hospitals.

Scaling Up Renewable Energy in Hospitals

With an additional 611 kWp of solar installation, the four newly equipped hospitals are projected to generate nearly 800,000 kWh of clean energy annually. To date, A1Health has amassed a cumulative solar PV generation of over 5,000,000 kWp, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy solutions in healthcare.
Beyond environmental benefits, this transition to solar energy is expected to save more than MYR 2.7 million ($610,000) and reduce approximately 3,200 tons of carbon emissions annually.

“Healthcare facilities operate 24/7 and consume 2-3 times more electricity than commercial buildings, making energy efficiency critical for operational resilience and sustainability,” said Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Executive Director and Group CEO of Solarvest.
The Malaysian healthcare sector accounts for approximately 5% of the country’s total electricity demand, making it a key industry for clean energy transformation.

“By integrating clean energy infrastructure into the healthcare industry, hospitals can reduce electricity costs by up to 30% while significantly lowering carbon emissions by thousands of metric tons annually,” Chong stated.

He emphasized that the initiative not only improves hospitals’ operational efficiency but also sets a precedent for a greener, more sustainable future in Malaysia’s healthcare sector.
A1Health’s Group Head for Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability, Mandy Phang, hailed the partnership as a significant step in reducing carbon emissions and driving long-term cost efficiencies.

“Together, we are strengthening our environmental responsibility and ensuring a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem that benefits our patients, staff, and the communities we serve,” Phang said.

Supporting Malaysia’s Net-Zero Ambitions

Through this collaboration, Solarvest continues to drive energy transformation, aligning with Malaysia’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As a clean energy expert with a strong presence across the Asia-Pacific, Solarvest has built a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 1,300MW (both completed and ongoing projects).
Originally established as a one-stop solar PV solutions provider, Solarvest has now expanded its expertise into various clean energy innovations, including:
  • Hydrogen energy
  • Battery storage
  • Data center energy solutions
  • Energy efficiency
  • Low-carbon mobility
  • Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
A1Health is a leading healthcare provider in Southeast Asia, operating across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnamwith a network of over 30 healthcare facilities.

With more than 4,000 beds across its facilities, A1Health’s commitment to renewable energy demonstrates its long-term vision for a more sustainable healthcare industry.

This Solarvest-A1Health partnership is more than just an energy transition—it is a model for the future of sustainable healthcare worldwide. By investing in solar energy solutions, hospitals can reduce operational costs, improve energy security, and minimize their environmental impact.
