The Liveability Challenge (TLC)

Now in its eighth year, The Liveability Challenge (TLC) is on a global quest to find groundbreaking solutions with disruptive impact that can address the most pressing climate issues of our time: Decarbonisation and Cool Earth. The top two finalists will receive S$1 Million in grant funding each with an additional S$500,000 investment opportunities being offered to finalists by our strategic partners and investors.

Submission guidelines:  
 
TLC welcomes all projects or above Technology Readiness Level (TLR) 6 and has already achieved proof of concept. While teams may be based anywhere in the world, the proposed project must be applicable to Singapore and cities along the tropical belt.

Big Bets Fellowship: Climate | Asia-Pacific 

Are you driving innovative climate solutions in the Asia-Pacific region? The Big Bets Fellowship, supported by The Rockefeller Foundation, is now accepting applications!
 
The fellowship is designed for emerging leaders tackling some of the region’s most pressing climate challenges, from accelerating renewable energy transitions to building climate-resilient infrastructure and mobilizing climate finance for underserved communities.
Project Selection Criteria:  
 
A Big Bet is a concerted effort to fundamentally solve a single, pressing problem in your community or our world of the following areas (but are not limited to):
  • Accelerating the transition to renewable energy that can reduce carbon emissions, expand energy access in underserved areas, and empower people who live in energy poverty OR
  • Advancing innovations to better prevent, predict, detect, and respond to diseases outbreaks caused or worsened by climate change, ensuring vulnerable populations can lead healthier lives OR
  • Unlocking finance for underserved communities battered by climate change and critical ecosystems that benefit these communities while fostering a more equitable global economic system OR
  • Transforming food and health systems to result in health and/or environmental benefits for communities, with a focus on equitable and inclusive transitions OR
  • Developing gender-inclusive systems and frameworks to mitigate and/or adapt to a changing climate OR
  • Investing in nature-based solutions, such as large-scale ecosystem preservation and restoration, sustainable forestry, regenerative agriculture, and marine conservation, to align economic development for underserved communities with ecological preservation and Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities leadership OR
  • Developing climate-resilient infrastructure, including smart cities, heatwave and flood defenses, sustainable transportation systems, and climate adaptive housing and health systems, to meet the demands of growing populations in underserved communities while reducing vulnerabilities.

Google Generative AI Accelerator Open Call 

Despite the growing potential of generative AI in social impact work, nearly half of all nonprofits are unable to adopt the technology due to limited resources, training, and funding. While four in five nonprofit organizations recognize AI’s applicability, many remain on the sidelines, lacking the tools to integrate it into their missions. To close this gap, Google.org launched the Generative AI Accelerator in 2024, supporting 21 organizations that expect to impact over 30 million beneficiaries within three years. Now, Google.org is expanding its initiative, offering nonprofits another opportunity to harness AI-driven innovation.
Selected organizations will receive support to build a gen AI-powered social impact solution by participating in the 6 month Generative AI Accelerator and receiving anywhere from $500k up to $2M+ in funding.

(1). Knowledge, skills and learning
Provide pathways for people to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to thrive. 
  • AI Literacy & Fluency: Equip people with a foundational understanding of AI, including the basic knowledge and skills to effectively utilize AI tools and technologies in various contexts.
  • Career & Workforce Readiness: Provide industry-aligned digital skills training and comprehensive support to help job seekers land in-demand jobs with pathways to upward mobility and economic opportunity.
  • Technology-Enabled Teaching & Learning: Leverage technology and AI to make education more accessible, engaging, and personalized to learners at every level.
(2). Scientific advancement
Contribute to building resilient communities and a safe digital world.
    • Applied Science: Drive impact for top social and environmental issues by catalyzing and enabling cutting-edge AI-enabled solutions. We’re interested in applications that aim to improve scientific discovery, and those that use AI to drive socially beneficial outcomes in domains such as climate, society & AI, and health.
(3). Resilient Communities
Accelerate breakthroughs and AI-enabled scientific innovation with enables technology to be used for good in the world. Collaborations between academics or research institutions and other organisations like nonprofits that together bridge research with practical application are encouraged.
    • Stronger Societies: Enable individuals to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly, promoting digital wellbeing, fostering civic engagement and societal debate, and helping create cohesive communities.
    • A Safer Internet: Leverage AI and technology to create a safer internet, protecting people and organizations at risk from bad actors and helping those most vulnerable to online harms.
    • Crisis Response: Enable rapid action to help communities affected by natural disasters and complex humanitarian crises, and empower the nonprofit ecosystem with the tools it needs to respond.

HP’s Digital Equity Accelerator 

Are you a nonprofit dedicated to bridging the digital divide?  
 
The Digital Equity Accelerator offers selected organizations USD $100,000 capacity-building grants, HP technology (~USD$100,000 value), and a six-month, virtual program including training, mentorship, and technical consultations, designed to help strengthen capacity and scale digital equity impact. In 2025, the Digital Equity Accelerator will focus on supporting nonprofits in Greece, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Spain.

Nexus for Equity Accelerator 

Women and girls are disproportionately affected by climate change but are undeniably powerful change agents in climate action – women are innovators, leaders, entrepreneurs, workers, and customers in climate related fields. Despite this, the finance ecosystem does not often embed gender equity, leading to women and women-led solutions being left behind.
 
TheNexus for Equity Accelerator by Villgro Philippines is on a bold mission to address the gender inequalities that persist in climate finance, and ensure women-led and women-benefiting enterprises have an equal seat at the table and access to the funding, networks, and technical support they need to scale climate solutions.
This 24-month program seeks to help scale women-led and women-benefiting enterprises that are tackling climate change, promoting gender equality, and advancing health outcomes.
The program will support 35 enterprises in Phase 1 through capacity building and coaching, and will select 15 enterprises in Phase 2 for a tailored investment readiness and growth support, for access to capital in Phase 3.

The International Youth Environmental Competition

The International Youth Environment Competition (IYEC) is an annual event dedicated to inspiring and empowering youth to take action on environmental and climate issues for a sustainable future. This competition unites passionate and innovative young people from around the world to share their ideas and projects addressing local environmental challenges with effective solutions. Participants can present their innovative solutions through essays, video presentations, recorded speeches, and other creative formats.
Competition Theme:  
 
Participants can choose to compete in one of the following themes. You must pick a local issue that is related to at least one of these topics:
    • Nature and protection
    • Air quality improvement
    • Bodies of water and associated environmental problems
    • Waste reduction and management
    • Climate change mitigation
Submission guidelines:
Your submission must be in written or spoken English, or have English subtitles if in video format. Please ensure your project is accessible via digital link.
  • Essays must be 500-1000 words in Word format.
  • Videos or public speeches must be 1-5 minutes long.
  • Include name and category with submission.
  • Must be original work with proper accreditation for quotes.
  • Identify a local environmental issue and address how the submission tackles it.
  • Participants can work individually or in groups.
Age Groups: 13 and below (Junior Category), 14-18 (Senior Category). You will be competing within your age group.

Applicants are now invited to submit applications for Female Founder Challenge to celebrates the women leading innovative startups that are driving the disruptive technologies shaping the future.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Female Founder Challenge is open to all female founders, co-founders, CEOs or Co-CEOs of a startup in the Tech sector wishing to raise funds. This seventh edition of the Challenge also remains open to all candidates from previous editions, with the exception of the winner of the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Challenges.
  • The candidate must be a natural person (and not a legal entity) over the age of 18 who has participated in the incorporation of and/or is the legal representative of the company.
  • The application must be written in English. It does not require the candidate to provide proof of residence or nationality. The candidate startup does not need to be limited to a specific topic, industry or technological solution. Any female founder, regardless of her company or location, can participate in the Challenge as long as she provides all of the necessary information so that the jury may correctly evaluate the application.
  • By participating in the Challenge, the candidate will be expected to attend the Afterwork, the final session and the Awards ceremony (which will take place between June 11 and June 14 at VivaTech, Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, 1 Place de la Porte de Versailles, 75015 Paris, France) if she is selected amongst the 5 Finalists. If the candidate is unable to attend one of the meetings for unforeseen reasons or any other type of reason, she must inform VivaTech as soon as possible, and before May 11 at the very latest, the Candidate will then be disqualified from the Final and Awards ceremony and the next Candidate in the ranking will be selected for the Final.

ASHOKA’S THE POWER OF LOCAL

In an era where small businesses drive local economies, many lack the resources, networks, and equitable opportunities to thrive. Recognizing this gap, the Power of Local Challenge has opened applications, seeking organizations that serve as ecosystem builders—those dedicated to providing tools, funding access, and business networks to support small enterprises. This initiative aims to bridge economic disparities by empowering local businesses with the connections and resources they need to succeed.
Who we’re we looking for:
We are particularly interested in initiatives that are building small business ecosystems by either:
 
(1) Weaving collaborative networks for local small businesses:
You mobilize collaborative networks that connect small businesses with local partners and stakeholders. This approach activates shared resources and opportunities, driving collective growth and strengthening the community.
 
(2).Building access to structures of support and capacity building:
You establish structures of support that enable small businesses to build essential skills and capabilities. By offering capacity-building initiatives such as training and mentorship, your solution equips businesses to overcome barriers and achieve sustainable growth.     
 
(3)Providing support to financial barriers:
You catalyze access to financial resources by addressing the barriers that hinder small business growth. Your solution amplifies resilience by creating pathways to capital and financial literacy, enabling the businesses to stabilize and expand. 
Additional criteria : 
  • If your solution has not been implemented at scale; you must have a clear business plan and a minimum-viable solution (prototype, pilot, or another proof of concept).  
  • You may only submit 1 application per organization. 
  • You must be 18 or above by the application deadline, on February 26th, 2025.
Please note that all eligible participants will be invited to take part in peer reviews: once the application phase closes, you will each be asked to review 10 applications each. Doing so will give you access to exclusive feedback roundtables with the community.
A total of 11 winners will be awarded a cash prize of up to $60,000 as follows:
  • We will award at least 1 winner in each geographical region: Latin America, East Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa, East Asia.  
  • Ten Winners will receive $15,000 each.
  • One Grand Prize Winner will be selected and will receive $60,000

The Planetary Health Challenge 2025: Youth Competition 

The Planetary Health Challenge 2025: Youth Competition is searching for game-changing ideas to protect and restore our freshwater systems. Whether it’s remediation, filtration, water reuse, or innovative policy approaches, your creativity can make a difference in improving public health, food security, and biodiversity.
The winning team will gain access to mentorship opportunities, present work to a global audience of experts, policymakers, and stakeholders, and potentially obtain a travel scholarship to attend the Planetary Health Annual Meeting (#PHAM2025) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, a city that knows the value of water firsthand.
Participation Structure
  • Eligibility: Open to youth (ages 13-35) worldwide from diverse disciplines.
  • Application Process: Individuals apply for limited spots, ensuring high engagement and effort from participants. Applicants indicate their area of interest from predefined options (option for “other”).
  • Team Formation: Organizers match applicants into diverse 3-member teams based on interest and regional compatibility. Teams develop project proposals collaboratively. 
  • This approach promotes cross-cultural collaboration and simulates real-world Planetary Health work across time zones. 
Teams submit a written project (2000 words maximum) proposal including up to 2 tables/figures detailing:
  1. Alignment with Competition Themes (Regenerativity; Great Transition; Diversity and Inclusion)

NEW ZEALAND-SINGAPORE BIOTECH IN FUTURE FOODS RESEARCH PROGRAMME

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore, and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), New Zealand are launching a second Call for Proposals (‘the Call’) for the New Zealand-Singapore Bilateral Research Programme on Future Foods. The Call will focus on the following priority areas:
  • Smart and Sustainable Processes
  • Health and Nutrition
New Zealand and Singapore applicants must jointly develop a single proposal that will be submitted to MBIE and A*STAR via email. New Zealand project teams may apply for up to NZ$3 million (excluding GST) of funding from MBIE (through the Catalyst Fund) over three years, and Singapore project teams may apply for up to S$1.25 million (including overheads of 30%) from A*STAR over the same period. 
Successful projects shall (in no particular order): 
  • Lead to research translation of project deliverables into the future food industry, which may include IP licensing or spin-offs
  • Develop technologies that enable scalable and sustainable production of future foods
  • Deliver impact in human health and longevity through improvements in next-generation future food ingredients
  • Deepen research collaborations between Singapore and New Zealand scientists with complementary research capabilities in future foods R&D
  • Grow the future food industries of both countries through novel biotechnology innovations and expanded market access

International School on Climate Mobilities 2025

The fourth annual International School on Climate Mobilities, hosted by Beyond Climate Collaborative is back!  
 
This year, the ISCM will welcome a maximum of 200 participants to enroll in the summer school. The 2025 programme will bring together more than forty leading experts to deliver lectures, convene rigorous seminars and share their first-hand experience of the impacts of climate change and related displacement over the course of seven weeks.
 
Placing questions of differential vulnerability and environmental justice at the center, the ISCM unpacks topical themes related to climate and environmental (im)mobilities throughout weekly lecture and seminar sessions.
Who Should apply ?
 
The ISCM welcomes students, recent graduates, academics, practitioners and change-makers from all corners of the world who are keen to unpack how we problematize and respond to climate and environmental-related (im)mobilities in the twenty-first century. We welcome participants at different stages of their research, advocacy and career journeys and encourage diversity – across geographies and disciplines.
 
We encourage participation amongst change-makers who are passionate about advancing resilience to climate change and environmental shocks through disaster risk reduction and sustainable development, as well as those who champion human rights-based protection for those who move and those who stay to cope with the intensifying impacts of climate change, disasters and environmental degradation.
 
If you are passionate about researching the nuances of climate-induced migration, displacement and immobility, influencing new laws and policies, providing life-saving assistance in the humanitarian sector or engaging in sustainable development programming on climate change and migration, this course is for you!

P4G Partnerships

P4G is now accepting applications for partnerships working on climate mitigation or adaptation solutions in the areas of food, energy and water. Partnerships must comprise at least one early-stage business and one nonprofit organization implementing in one of P4G’s ODA-eligible partner countries: Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa and Vietnam. Applicants must provide services or products that contribute to poverty alleviation, gender equity and economic growth in one of the following sub-sectors: climate-smart agriculture, food loss and waste, water resilience, zero emission mobility and renewable energy.  
Applicants must meet all ten eligibility criteria to submit a concept note and be considered for evaluation. You can find more details about the eligibility criteria in the Partnership Guidelines.
  1. Partnership commitment: Comprise at least one early-stage climate business and one nonprofit administrative partner  
  2. Experience and track record: Demonstrate across their partners country, sectoral, policy & regulatory environment, business, financial, social, environmental development and grant management knowledge, skills and expertise
  3. Sector and countries: Implement in P4G’s ODA-eligible partner countries and focus sub-sectors including climate smart agriculture, food loss and waste, water resilience, zero emissions mobility and renewable energy
  4. Investability: Be at the seed or post-seed financing stage with a robust business plan and a defined path to commercialization or raise capital  
  5. Enabling system: Possess a clear understanding of policy, legal/regulatory frameworks in the country of implementation  
  6. Additionality: Climate business solution is innovative in that it is substantially improved when compared to the state of the art in that industry and in the relevant country of operation
  7. Impact: Show climate, economic growth, poverty reduction, gender and development impact
  8. Budget: Include cost share of at least 30%, that is not in-kind and must meet mandatory activities and budget line items
  9. Responsible business conduct: Not have activities that are in P4G’s exclusion list and must either demonstrate their ESG plan or include a plan to develop one  
  10. Due diligence: The two lead institutions demonstrate the ability to meet organizational due diligence requirements

PepsiCo Greenhouse Collaborative Accelerator 

PepsiCo, a global leader in food and beverages, has announced the return of its Greenhouse Accelerator (GHAC) program in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Now in its third year, the initiative aims to empower startups developing solutions in sustainable agriculture, the circular economy, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator Program 2025
“PepsiCo’s Greenhouse Accelerator Program is dedicated to empowering startups with the tools, resources, and mentorship required to drive meaningful change and scale innovations across our food systems,” said Ashley Brown, VP Supply Chain ANZ & Chief Sustainability Officer, PepsiCo APAC.
The 2025 GHAC program will select 10 finalists, each receiving $20,000 in grants. The winning startup will receive an additional $100,000 to scale its solution. Beyond financial backing, participants will gain mentorship from PepsiCo executives and accelerator experts to tackle operational challenges and catalyze growth.

The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) 

The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) invites applications for financial support from projects that aim to transform commodity value chains and uplift smallholder and SME-based enterprises in CFC member countries. The CFC provides a variety of financial and technical support options to empower SMEs, cooperatives, International Commodity Bodies (ICBs), and other institutions, particularly those led by or supporting women in agriculture.
To align your proposal with VACS objectives:
  • Support Diverse, Climate-Resilient Crops: Emphasize how your project promotes the cultivation of crops that are both diverse and
    adapted to climate change, contributing to resilient food systems.
  • Promote Sustainable Agricultural Practices: Detail how your agribusiness integrates sustainable land use and farming practices,
    improving soil health and ensuring long-term agricultural productivity.
  • Address Food Security: Highlight your commitment to enhancing food security in regions most affected by climate change, particularly
    in Africa and Central America.
  • Build Resilient Food Systems: Explain how your project will increase both the supply and demand for climate-resilient crops, helping
    to establish a more sustainable and equitable food system.
  • Demonstrate Measurable Outcomes: Include specific, measurable outcomes that align with VACS objectives, such as improved crop
    yields, enhanced soil fertility, or increased income for smallholder farmers.
  • Align with VACS Priorities: Ensure that your proposal clearly shows how it meets the VACS selection criteria, emphasizing its potential
    to build climate resilience and support sustainable development.
FUNDING AND APPLICATION  
 
  • The CFC provides funding to agribusinesses through loans and debt instruments, with a standard maximum of USD 2 million for regular
    projects and up to USD 300,000 under the Fast-Track procedure. Flexibility is applied for projects demonstrating high impact and strong
    financial viability.
  • All applications must be sent through the ongoing CFC Call for Proposals. No separate applications will be accepted.

Through the competition, the organisers will offer application scenarios, funding opportunities, and resources to entries with potential, helping them their innovative ideas to fruition and achieve commercial success.  
This global competition, under the leadership of Dr. Peter Lee, Founder of TERA-Award, offers up to US$1 million in prize money. This video showcases the scale of the competition—over 900 startups across 59 countries—and highlights the cutting-edge technologies being developed.
