RELEVANT SUSTAINABLE GOALS

FEMINIST LEADERSHIP LAB

With so many strains on civil society and activism in India, it becomes more important than ever to build solidarities and find new ways of sustaining, nuancing, and thriving. The Feminist Leadership Lab is an exploratory convening of young leaders and activists to co-create tools and knowledges around feminist leadership and its daily praxis. It is envisioned as an immersive process that is grounded in co-creation principles (outlined in section four below)

Who can apply and what does the space offer ?

Young activists and leaders engaged in social change work and embedded in collectives (informal and formal) are encouraged to apply. If you’re looking for an opportunity to meet others doing similar and different work, or looking to engage with what feminist leadership might look like in your context and in embodied practice, or if you’re looking to co-create tools that will help you and others within the space to lead, to rest, and to rejuvenate – this might be the space for you!

What Role do participants play ?

Applicants aren’t merely recipients of a pre-decided course. They are also co-creators – of the space, of its tone, of the agenda. We encourage applicants to think of themselves as facilitators and holders of space as much as receivers/participants. Through the lab, we want to challenge the notion that sees youth and young leaders as mere recipients of every process, as people that need to be ‘taught’. We recognise that each of us come from contexts and experiences that shape us and our politics, that everyone can learn from.

What Is The Process foR Selection ?

Gender at Work India seeks to be intentional with who comes into the room – a diversity of identities, issues and perspectives will be prioritised. The initial round of applications closes on the 31st of May. Shortlisted applicants will be notified by 5th June following which there will be a round of one-on-one exploratory conversations with each individual to understand how they see themselves fitting into the process and clarifying any doubts. Following this, a final list of applicants will be announced by early July.

What If I’m selected as a co-creator, how will my contribution be recognised ?

Every co-creator will be acknowledged as co-authors in whatever materials and knowledge products are developed through this process.

What I Gender at work India’s Role ?

Gender at Work India plays the role of organising the event. This is a part of a larger undertaking trying to understand and unpack feminist youth leadership in India, so there are already some tools and pedagogies developed from a longer process of engaging with young leaders, sector practitioners and artists that will be brought into the process by the Gender at Work India team and an extended team of facilitators.
