The elderly, children, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in society also faced increased socio-economic challenges in society as the Covid-19 pandemic unfolded. Women are facing disproportionate impacts of inequality, with increasing household workload and additional coaching of school-aged children. The crisis has also shifted society’s interaction towards the digital realm, and this transition is considered key to global future prosperity and resilience, including the EU region and Indonesia.

EU Social Digithon

EU Social DigiThon is a creative and digital-based platform to facilitate civic activism using digital technology. It aims to explore the link between digital information and technology and the particular solution to social and human rights issues arising from the Covid-19 Pandemic. This initiative is also an endeavor to be a strategic platform to ignite youth’s involvement to creative approaches in tackling issues experienced by vulnerable groups, through digital based technology.

The EU Delegation to Indonesia seeks to explore the link between digital information and technology and the particular resolution to social and human rights issues arising from the Covid-19 Pandemic. Thus, this Social DigiThon is a strategic platform to ignite youth’s involvement to creative and innovative approaches in tackling issues of social and human rights faced by women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups, through digital based technology.
Design creative digital-based prototype ideas that respond to the social and human rights issues and challenges faced by vulnerable groups in Indonesia, including women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The prototype system should be mobile app friendly (android/iOS).

  • Online teaching platforms and applications do not always cater to a diversity of abilities and often made learning from home more difficult for students (Australia Indonesia research, October 2020).
